Man Who loved engines; Racing, Flying, & Sailing on Airships
Airships have been flying since the 1800s. With the development of rigid air in WWI and post war, there was a certain magic to see airships fly. And ladies would swoon at the men and hope that when it finally landed they would meet these sky sailors.
This is a collection of images and documents that cover some of the most romantic part of that era.
My father was one of those "sky sailors". And did marry one Beatrice Bolten. It was during the time of the Irish Revolt in 1919. And on Christmas Day, my half sister was born. These photos and essays will portray a man who loved engines. His love of powerplants and flight started at the very beginning of flight on our planet.
